As each individual is unique, no two journeys are alike. I work intimately with each journeyer to determine intention, setting, and a dosage range. We then, together, create a plan for an aligned ceremony. Whether it be in the stillness of the desert or the comfort of your living room, safety, exploration, and expansion remain pillars of all Sol Passage journeys. I often weave in ancient practices such a shamanic drumming, native american flute playing, and elements of the natural world. Through ritual, respect is shown to the medicine and a sense of the mystical and sacred are invoked.
I'm Jake ☼
Raised on the east coast, I spent the first half of my twenties engrossed in the New York City rat-race. At 25, I found myself in a wilting relationship, working a job I loathed, living in a city I no longer felt connected to. I hit the red button - ended my relationship, quit my tech job, and sold everything I owned. I bought a one-way-ticket to the other side of the world and embarked on what became a year-long voyage.
The final day of my journey found me in Amsterdam on a beautiful September day. It had been years since I used psychedelics. In retrospect, I had been avoiding them because I was afraid of holding up the mirror. On that day, I had become comfortable with myself again. I found a grassy field in a park, laid out a blanket, and took a large dose of psilocybin mushrooms. That year’s worth of expansive experiences were condensed and engrained. A mystical experience followed and I got a glimpse into my future. My calling was one of service.
When I returned home I moved to Utah to pursue wilderness therapy; a treatment option for behavioral disorders, substance abuse, and mental health issues in adolescents. Stripped of creature comforts and distractions, the teens are able to focus on the underlying issues. This job allowed me to hone skills of communication, patience, and crisis management, as well as confirming that mental health care was a passion. It instilled in me a sense of purpose that I had never felt before.
Through it all, psychedelics remained a key component in my life; providing clarity, centeredness, and connection to myself, others, and the planet. I became passionate about researching and learning how to best utilize this tool. Eventually, I became a resource for friends and family. My knowledge, paired with the therapeutic skills I had sharpened in wilderness, lead to me holding space for those who would ask. I felt a universal ping to transition into this work. Seeing firsthand the positive effects these experiences have had on people has been my driving force.
Since transitioning to psychedelic assisted therapy, my foundational purpose remains the same - helping humans. On a micro level, I believe that psychedelics, if used correctly, can help people realize a more authentic version of themselves. On a macro level, I believe in the ripple effect, trusting that each journeyer will re-enter their daily life more whole and therefore be able to spread a bit of nourishment to others. I believe that this energetic sun-ray is passed from person to person.
As of writing this, I've been doing this work for 3 years and have held over 75 ceremonies. I continue to operate under my private practice, Sol Passage, but have also joined up with a nationwide network of 22 facilitators for the company Psychedelic Passage as of August, 2023. It's a privilege to have met their rigorous vetting standards. Working with them has increased my reach and resources.
